Why do movies based off video games suck and comic book based movies good?

With really only moderate successful movies, such as resident evil series and the first Mortal Kombat film Video game movies have been some of the worst hollywood has created. On the other hand, most of the comic book films, such as Xmen, Spiderman and Ironman have all become great pieces of work? Why do movies based off video games suck and comic book based movies good?
honestly, i think it's cuz most video games ppl dont play much. i doubt most directors have an xbox or playstation. so they dont know what the fans want. comic books on the other hand have been more compelling towards a larger audience, including the directors themselves when they were lil kids, and most of what they want to see in the movie is also what the fans wanna see. and plus, movies off most games are stupid. resident evil is already a dumb movie theme and so is mortal kombat. also, i think since games r meant for playing, u cant make a movie with a good story from a game as a base. mortal kombat barely had a story and just u punching out other ppl's spines and that would be a bad and boring movie
Movie to game adaptations aren't bad, though. I found a site that listed the ten best ones:

Actually, I think it's quite the opposite. Most directors that try to make a Videogame Movie go on a completely different, alternate timeline storyline that ends up not making sense. It's like they play the first 5 minutes of the game, get bored and pull something out of their butt for a storyline. Sure, it's hard to stick hours of gameplay into an hour and a half movie but turning things completely upside down is just wrong. (I.e like the ayane-hayate relationship in that stupid DoA movie. If anyone even bothered to watch the 2 minute intro video to DoA2, they would know that ayane is hayate's half-sister, not a love interest.)

Now, I haven't read every single comic book but for the most part, comic book movies stay relatively close to their origins and the guys who made the original comic books knew what they were doing. I say, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.Why do movies based off video games suck and comic book based movies good?
all it will take is one good movie from a video game and the production value of them will explode, look what xmen did to the comic book scene, but there is a lot more story to comic books than video games, hell with the amount of crap modern warfare two is coming out with a movie about it would not surprise me one bit.
Very little storyline or thought go into most games. They always try to make the film just like the game which turns out bad. I agree the first Mortal Kombat film and the Resident Evil series are the only films based on video games that are good.
actually, there are some movie based video games good

for example ,final fantasy 7

I have watch it for several times~
Because video games are made for playing. Comic books have history and a back story. The only video game movie I've liked in the last few years has been Silent Hill
b/c vido games are exciting, but not in a movie.
