How do I get spiderman 3 to work on my laptop?

I have a serious problem. I always wanted spiderman 3 on the PC and now that I have the game and installed it onto my computer it doesn't work, I've looked at the requirements checked them, got them theres certainly NOTHING wrong with my laptop. when I installed the game and tried to play it, a big black box apeared in the upper left hand corner for about five seconds then it disappears. My cousin says that it won't work on the laptop because laptops aren't built for games. But if that was the case then why did they invent games for both the laptop and the PC. Now i'm not sure what to think does spiderman 3 only work on the PC or does it work on both? is my cousin right? should I trade the game back in? if you've got any suggestions then please, please tell me. I really want to play this game.How do I get spiderman 3 to work on my laptop?
Yeah, if the game's size if too big, you may not be able to play it. The Sims 2 for example, I tried playing that on my laptop but it takes up A LOT of visual memory. So I ended up using the PC.

It's just like Asia said if the game takes up alot of visual memory and your laptop's video card can't handle it then the game won't run. It's certainly more difficult to be able run high quality games on a laptop without a more potent video card. Hope this helps!
Check that you have the latest version of directx and of your graphics drivers. If that doesn't fix it then it is mostly likely that your laptop doesn't have good enough graphics.
